I made it!

I'm here now! I flew from Cincinnati, to Dulles, to Johannesburg, and finally to Windhoek. Unfortunately, my luggage has not arrived yet....

We're starting orientation stuff tomorrow.

Also, the US soccer team was on my flight on their way to the world cup...

The article is correct that the flight was long, and that lots of scary-looking security people met the team at the gate. To be honest, for the entire flight I had no idea that the team was on the flight and the only reason I found out was that the pilot made an announcement right before we were about to get off in Johannesburg.

I'm leaving next week!

If you are not already aware, I will spending my summer in Windhoek, Namibia with the Augsburg College Center for Global Education program "Social Change and Development in Southern Africa" (http://www.augsburg.edu/global/summer/namibia.html). I'm leaving on May 30th, and getting back the second week in August.

I'll be taking a class "The Development Process in Southern Africa" and I'll be interning at an after school program doing math stuff.

I'll try to post updates periodically over the summer. The internet is supposed to be extremely slow whre I will be staying in Namibia, so we'll see if I will actually be able to access this site. If not, I'll come up with some other plan for staying in touch...I'll keep you posted.
